Jasper was our guide. He arrived promptly at our hotel at the communicated time. We were the last collection, so we set off immediately towards the mountain. The bus was comfortable and air conditioned, and jasper made a cooler available for the trip which we could all use for food and drink. He provided bottled water. The first stop was at a food store which had a number of other outlets surrounding it like Baskin Robins, Starbucks and lots more. We decided on a tour with a stop for food rather than one which included food as our children can be a bit fussy, this way we could buy exactly what they wanted. The American supermarkets always fascinate us with their extensive variety. 20 minutes later, we were all back on board and heading for the park. Jasper provided facts about Seattle and lots of the little towns on route. He clearly had a love of the land and sustainability. We arrived at a long line of traffic to enter the park at around 11 am. (having left Seattle at 8 a.m.). Jasper knew a great nisqually river front walk, so he dropped us off with instructions of where to get back on once he was through the traffic. There were some beautiful views and the children headed straight down to the river to play. 15 minutes later we were back on the bus. We then stopped at Longmire for a bathroom break. There didn't seem to be much there other than a gift shop but nobody went in from our group. We then started the ascent into the park and honestly the views were breathtaking. Plenty of stops along the way for photos and little hikes at places like Christine Falls, an amazing old suspension bridge with lovely views of the mountain. Jasper would accompany us, take photos, provide interesting facts, point out the best spots for views, etc. We ended up at Paradise with 90 minutes to explore on our own. We did the Nisqually glacier tour, which was about 2 miles in a loop. Stunning views of the mountain, although a tough uphill hike back. We also visited the lodge, had lunch, bought ice cream and gifts, and stopped at a spot on the way out to learn about the trees. Jasper took some amazing panoramic photos for us of a tree that seemed to reach right into the clouds. We were back at our hotel by 6.40. It was a fantastic day out, and I'm very glad we chose this tour operator.
