We did the bus tour and paid the extra $ to take the ferry back. My son is in SF for the semester and wanted to see the redwoods. I found it very crowded, and a very quick stop considering how long it takes to get there. If you venture off the main loop which is wide and wooden, and go onto the trials, they are very narrow (single file) and crowded and on the edge of a cliff so your main focus is trying not to fall off or bump into people. Hard to really enjoy the scenery. Go the extra distance to Armstrong Redwoods. Trees are bigger and more impressive, more natural environment and less crowded.

Dear Michnmaur, Thank you for taking the time to post a review on your experience with us. I am concerned to discover that Muir Woods was not entirely to your liking, since you can walk among old growth coast redwoods discovering its grandeur and majesty. I will certainly share your review with our management team to see whether there is room for improvement. Best regards, Manager at Gray Line of San Francisco

Our driver, Vlad, was knowledgeable and entertaining. He made the day fun. The woods are beautiful and hiking the path was calming and peaceful. Our time in Sausalito was lovely. We chose to stay a little longer and take the ferry back to Fishermanā€™s Wharf. Well worth the extra cost.

Went on Sunday the 27th. Muir woods is just magnificent and this is a good way to get there. Our tour guide was very informative I thought. Sausalito is a nice town but will only interest you if you're a shopper. Took the ferry back. If you take this option go directly to the ferry schedule after they let you off the bus. You'll want to decide which ferry you want to get on and be in line plenty early (20 minutes?). I was there on a Sunday so that may be why there were SO MANY BIKES! The ferry I got on went to pier 39 but stopped at Angel Island and Tiburon so it was a lengthy ride. Fortunately it was a beautiful day and I had no deadlines.

Dear BCA34, Thank you for your kind feedback. I am delighted to know that the tour met your expectations, as well as knowing that our guide seemed informative and enthusiastic. Indeed taking the ferry back to the city allows you to enjoy more time in Sausalito as well as discover the magnificent views of the bay. We hope to welcome you back soon for another experience with us! Sincerely, Manager at Gray Line of San Francisco
