Muscle Shoals Sound Studio Tour in Sheffield Alabama

Overview
In 1969 the Swampers founded Muscle Shoals Sound Studio and within months they were attracting hit recording artists from around the world who came to them in search of the signature sound that forever changed American music. Through the generosity of Beats Electronics the legendary studio has been authentically restored. From the vintage equipment in the control room upstairs to the orange carpet in the Swampers' party room downstairs, the building looks exactly as it did during those magical years between 1969 and 1978. Peek into the bathroom where Keith Richards put the finishing touches on Wild Horses or sit at the piano that Paul Simon played on Kodachrome.

What can be said. This is an amazing studio that pumped out hit record after hit record. Our tour guide was Terrell. He has an amazing wealth of musical knowledge and great stories about each of the “Swampers”. He reveals background not only about the studio but gives insight into the support from local folks. They supplied simple and ingenious solutions to the problems that came up in the day to day studio operations. Could have spent the entire day here. If you love music….this is a must see!

We had a great tour with Terrell. Had him all to ourselves at the 1230 time slot. His stories entertained and taught about the history of this little block building that changed the world of music. Personal anecdotes of each of the swampers and musicians who recorded here. A must see for all music lovers.
