Muscle Shoals Sound Studio Tour in Sheffield Alabama

Overview
In 1969 the Swampers founded Muscle Shoals Sound Studio and within months they were attracting hit recording artists from around the world who came to them in search of the signature sound that forever changed American music. Through the generosity of Beats Electronics the legendary studio has been authentically restored. From the vintage equipment in the control room upstairs to the orange carpet in the Swampers' party room downstairs, the building looks exactly as it did during those magical years between 1969 and 1978. Peek into the bathroom where Keith Richards put the finishing touches on Wild Horses or sit at the piano that Paul Simon played on Kodachrome.

No need to say more than what has already been said. This place ranks among them all as the home of great music and Terrell gives a great tour

The staff here are really nice. Terrell, our guide, did a fantastic job relating what is special about 3614 Jackson Highway. I'll give you a hint -- it's not the building, though the history of the building and what was done to make it usable as a recording studio is interesting. If you didn't know what happened at that address you would drive right on by without a thought. Stop in and give Terrell your attention for a little while, though, and you'll realize you're standing on holy ground, a place where some really cool and talented people had fun creating something special. My wife and I enjoyed this tour more than the tour of another famous studio in the area. We both agreed that the difference was Terrell's inimitable charm and ability to tell stories.

Not only unmissable if in Muscle Shoals but worth a trip in itself. The studio has an amazing history and atmosphere and our guide Tyrell was fantastic. We could have happily stayed for another couple of hours hearing stories about artists who recorded there.
