Muscle Shoals Sound Studio Tour in Sheffield Alabama

Overview
In 1969 the Swampers founded Muscle Shoals Sound Studio and within months they were attracting hit recording artists from around the world who came to them in search of the signature sound that forever changed American music. Through the generosity of Beats Electronics the legendary studio has been authentically restored. From the vintage equipment in the control room upstairs to the orange carpet in the Swampers' party room downstairs, the building looks exactly as it did during those magical years between 1969 and 1978. Peek into the bathroom where Keith Richards put the finishing touches on Wild Horses or sit at the piano that Paul Simon played on Kodachrome.

I was told we must visit this little recording studio and was blown away at what I saw and learned about bands, people and songs from the 70’s. Our tour guide was a gentleman that lived in Muscle Shoals during that time period and had plenty to share. One of the original Swampers still pop in there from time to time.

An absolute must stop if you are even casually interested in the history of tock music. This tiny building has held sessions for most of Rock royalty supported by the Swampers. The price is a bargain and lets you get a 45 minute guided tour where the history is fully explained and all questions answered. Terri was the guide and entertaining. Also a small gift shop and Southern Hospitality on full display.

Great experience! Tour guide takes you back like you were there. He recalls stories and shares experiences that he had watching the swampers jam.
