If you wanted to go to a bunch of fun Instagram sets or delight a bunch of 5-11 year olds, it would be a huge, but expensive hit. There are maybe 7-10 different rooms (some are hallways) with some interactive options, including very small ice cream cases offering small cups of ice cream for tasting as you tour. Activities include getting your photo taken in a hall of hanging plastic yellow and pink bananas (visually cool), perusing your perfect ice cream flavor based on your horoscope, getting your photo taken in a snow globe, and taking a slide into a giant pit of plastic sprinkles. There are also gift shops with stuffies, some playscape equipment for the toddler crowd, and a diner area with additional treats for purchase. That's pretty much it. And for over $100 for a family of three (nobody under 16), I was hoping for more of an experience than just photos and additional purchase options. Honestly, I was also hoping for a little bit of real ice cream history and fun facts somewhere in there, based on the word "Museum" in the title. The other off-putting thing was that we walked up (there was a line of about 15 people), and an employee with an iPad who seemed to be entering data. But we couldn't just pay for tickets at the entrance - we had to buy online to enter AND sign safety waivers (maybe Nessie is lurking in that sprinkles pit). There's an online system where you can book a specific visit time, or pay extra to be a VIP and enter any time you want that day. We paid regular to enter about 8 minutes later, so that was convenient, but I would much prefer an option to pay at the door without having to enter a bunch of personal registration data to enter a place I spent 15 minutes in. I can definitely see groups of people who would adore visiting here for a special occasion. For people wondering what all the fuss is about and just deciding to drop in - know what to expect before you go.
