There are also several special exhibitions on view at any one time and the short documentary Timescapes, a multimedia historical storytelling, bringing viewers on a 28 minute journey through 400 years of history. I came because I wanted to see the exhibit on the gilded age - it turned out it was only on their webpage. Luckily there was an exhibit on music in NYC in the 80ies my hasband wanted to see. The general exhibit was nice and well displayed. It is nice that the museum isn't so big as some of the museums in New York so it is realistic to see it all

Loved this museum! The staff is friendly, the museum is well laid out, with two great stores…just can’t wait til Amy’s Bread opens up again because when we visited there was no opportunity for food or drink. Besides the excellent historical exhibits, we were charmed by the Dollhouse and the puppet exhibits. The 80s music exhibit was very geared toward the music scene in NYC at the time, so I wasn’t as into it as I expected. The climate change exhibit was mostly a video that was frightening but well done.

Fascinating museum about the history of the city. Some of the other current exhibitions, such as the Rising Tides and the one about activism in the city, are also excellent.
