Mush Your Own Sled Dog Team (Summer/Fall Tour)

Overview
This is the only place in Alaska where you can mush your own team of dogs in the summer!

This is not a just a tour kennel; it is the training grounds and homestead of 4-time Iditarod champion, Dallas Seavey. All the dogs are either retired racing dogs (many have won the Iditarod), are currently on the race team, or are the next generation in training to become the next great champions! Our dogs are active and training year-round. As a guest musher here, you become part of Dallas Seavey Racing's year-round training program.

The group size for this experience is usually 6 or less people, with a guide assigned to each group, creating a very personal experience.

All of our dogs are extremely friendly, and love attention. Cuddle puppies, romp with young dogs, or walk with champions.

This was the BEST dog sledding tour I have done in Alaska. It was better than the one we did on the glaciers. Chad and his team are awesome. Loved the part where you actually drive the sled through the forest. I didn't think Id like it so very much. If you had to choose one activity in Talkeetna, DO THIS! It's way better than glacier landing.

What a fun day learning about the world of dog mushing! Chad and the whole team at the kennels gave us an inside look at what it takes to prepare these incredible animals for some of the biggest races of the year, especially the Iditarod. We had the opportunity to mush our own team of sweet pups through guided trails in the woods. They LOVE to run! They got so excited as we started to pick each team. Even on that part of the tour, we paused with the crew so they could teach us more about the dogs and caring for them. There were frequent water and rest breaks for the dogs on the trail. It was so clear how much this crew of people love and care for each of these dogs. We also got to see some of the equipment used by famous racers over the years, and even try some of it on! One of my personal favorite moments of the day was when we got to see the newest additions to the kennel - the puppies! Even while playing with the puppies, we got to learn about how the crew raises them to ensure best care and preparation for their lives as professional athletes. Overall, it was an incredibly educational and fun day. I highly recommend this tour!
