Mush Your Own Sled Dog Team (Summer/Fall Tour)

Overview
This is the only place in Alaska where you can mush your own team of dogs in the summer!

This is not a just a tour kennel; it is the training grounds and homestead of 4-time Iditarod champion, Dallas Seavey. All the dogs are either retired racing dogs (many have won the Iditarod), are currently on the race team, or are the next generation in training to become the next great champions! Our dogs are active and training year-round. As a guest musher here, you become part of Dallas Seavey Racing's year-round training program.

The group size for this experience is usually 6 or less people, with a guide assigned to each group, creating a very personal experience.

All of our dogs are extremely friendly, and love attention. Cuddle puppies, romp with young dogs, or walk with champions.

Wonderful time with the dogs training for Iditarod. You are hooked up with a 4-dog team as it takes you on the trail surrounding the kennel - about 30 - 45 minutes. You can either be the sled driver in the back, using bicycle-type handlebars and brakes to steer the sled, or the passenger sitting in the front, right behind the dogs. You can trade off positions mid-ride if you like. The tour leader takes off on an ATV, and the dogs get to work, eager to follow and just be running. Mud puddles aplenty in mid-September - makes you feel like a kid again. After sledding, there is a visit with the puppies, and then a talk in a tent explaining the logistics of Iditarod. Very informative, and overall a very fun day. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful time here! It was one of the most memorable activities we did while in Alaska, we did a second dog sledding activity the following day and it was a very different experience also good but this one was just amazing!! Being able to mush the dogs on your own is an unforgettable experience - and definitely catered to the part of me who always wanted to do this since childhood! The dogs are all friendly adorable ready for a scratch and hard workers! The team as well lol
