Mush Your Own Sled Dog Team (Summer/Fall Tour)

Overview
This is the only place in Alaska where you can mush your own team of dogs in the summer!

This is not a just a tour kennel; it is the training grounds and homestead of 4-time Iditarod champion, Dallas Seavey. All the dogs are either retired racing dogs (many have won the Iditarod), are currently on the race team, or are the next generation in training to become the next great champions! Our dogs are active and training year-round. As a guest musher here, you become part of Dallas Seavey Racing's year-round training program.

The group size for this experience is usually 6 or less people, with a guide assigned to each group, creating a very personal experience.

All of our dogs are extremely friendly, and love attention. Cuddle puppies, romp with young dogs, or walk with champions.

My wife, daughter (age 7) and I had such an amazing time, and we cannot recommend Alaska Sled Dog Tours enough. This was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Of all the activities we pursued while we toured Alaska, this was sincerely the best. So, so glad we did this. Thank you to the friendly and welcoming staff: Leddy, Martha, and Emily. They are passionate, knowledgeable, personable, and especially sweet with our daughter as they introduced her to the dogs. Many of the dogs are Iditarod CHAMPIONS (look up Dallas Seavey, these are his dogs). We visited in late May, which means the dogs were training on the Knik Glacier which was only accessible by helicopter. The helicopter ride was exceptionally gorgeous. I recommend springing a few extra bucks to have your pilot land with you on the glacier, where you can get out and walk around.

Thank you for the review, we are SO happy you enjoyed it! Teaching children about mushing is one of our favorite things. The excitement in their faces is why we do what we do!

What an incredible few hours. The guides were friendly, supportive and stressed safety. The whole operation was first class and reflective of the world class Iditarod winner, Dallas Seavey. The dog course was beautifully maintained. The greatest part of the experience was the dogs. They truly love to run and they were so friendly.

If you have ever dreamed of meeting and petting 100 dogs, including puppies, then this is the trip for you. Learn to ride and control a dog sled, even without snow, on this large ranch's extensive and exciting dirt track through the forest. Our guide, Chad, was a pro at educating us about the dogs, sled racing culture, and Alaska life. This tour is highly recommended.
