Mush Your Own Sled Dog Team (Summer/Fall Tour)

Overview
This is the only place in Alaska where you can mush your own team of dogs in the summer!

This is not a just a tour kennel; it is the training grounds and homestead of 4-time Iditarod champion, Dallas Seavey. All the dogs are either retired racing dogs (many have won the Iditarod), are currently on the race team, or are the next generation in training to become the next great champions! Our dogs are active and training year-round. As a guest musher here, you become part of Dallas Seavey Racing's year-round training program.

The group size for this experience is usually 6 or less people, with a guide assigned to each group, creating a very personal experience.

All of our dogs are extremely friendly, and love attention. Cuddle puppies, romp with young dogs, or walk with champions.

We decided to do this since the Denali kennels are closed this season due to COVID, and we are so glad we did! Leddy, our guide, was very knowledgeable and handled our city-slicking tendencies with ease:) Knowing nothing about sled-dogging, I peppered Leddy with questions and she offered so much info and was very personable. Safety was also her priority- we had a 7YO and a 4YO with us and she made sure we all took the proper precautions. We could tell she really cares about the dogs, too! Thanks, Leddy (and Tide, Oats, Raja, Nora, Mavi, Reno, Steiger, and Ringer .... our teams!) What a great way to Kick off our AK adventure!

We had a very good time. We loved meeting the dogs and learning about the Iditarod. My son said this was his favorite part of our Alaska trip. Driving the dog sled was so much fun, I really wish that part was a little longer.

So happy your son and you enjoyed the tour, we wish the mush could last longer but we had to find a good balance between the informative side and the mushing. Thanks for spending a few hours with us at the kennel!

We had a superb dog sledding experience! The guides fully explained the process of "driving" a sled and we then went out on the track in pairs to drive our six-dog teams. It was easy to get the hang of the sled and breaking and the ride was thrilling. We switched drivers mid-way. After the ride, we were introduced to the kennels and met new puppies. It was a wonderful experience!
