Mush Your Own Sled Dog Team (Summer/Fall Tour)

Overview
This is the only place in Alaska where you can mush your own team of dogs in the summer!

This is not a just a tour kennel; it is the training grounds and homestead of 4-time Iditarod champion, Dallas Seavey. All the dogs are either retired racing dogs (many have won the Iditarod), are currently on the race team, or are the next generation in training to become the next great champions! Our dogs are active and training year-round. As a guest musher here, you become part of Dallas Seavey Racing's year-round training program.

The group size for this experience is usually 6 or less people, with a guide assigned to each group, creating a very personal experience.

All of our dogs are extremely friendly, and love attention. Cuddle puppies, romp with young dogs, or walk with champions.

We had 4 in our party and all of us had a blast! It was very informative re: the preparations that go into the AK Iditarod along with the history of many of the dogs. The staff/dog trainers were so knowledgeable answering all of the questions the group asked. We all fell in love with all of the dogs and loved meeting the puppies! I would highly recommend this tour/activity and would love to do it again!

Both my wife and I had no idea of what this would be. We are both dog and animal lovers. We were picked up in town on time and driven out to their training facilities. We were given some history and what we were going to do. Both my wife and I were excited to get to the dogs. We were taken out to where the dog live and got to pet as many as we wanted and then get on the sled, my wife drove the 1st half and yelled and laughed the whole time. I could not believe 4 dogs could pull us as fast and easy. When we got to the half way we got off the sled our guide gave water to the dogs and explained the working of a real sled. I had no idea there was so much the musher had to do during a race. Then after the dogs rested ( it was hot) I got to drive. Wow I had so much fun the dog can fly. I want to tell you this is the best tour I had. Yes all of the sight see in fine, but I got to play with the dogs. Really play with them. They are very well taken care of. They petted and love the dogs and the dogs show it. I talked to others that took others dog tours they didn't do half of what we did. If you want to drive your own dog sled them this is the only and best one to take. Ken and Gail Bishop

We had so much fun AND we learned a lot about sled dogs and the Iditarod. Everyone who works there loves their jobs and it showed. Highly recommend!
