Mush Your Own Sled Dog Team (Summer/Fall Tour)

Overview
This is the only place in Alaska where you can mush your own team of dogs in the summer!

This is not a just a tour kennel; it is the training grounds and homestead of 4-time Iditarod champion, Dallas Seavey. All the dogs are either retired racing dogs (many have won the Iditarod), are currently on the race team, or are the next generation in training to become the next great champions! Our dogs are active and training year-round. As a guest musher here, you become part of Dallas Seavey Racing's year-round training program.

The group size for this experience is usually 6 or less people, with a guide assigned to each group, creating a very personal experience.

All of our dogs are extremely friendly, and love attention. Cuddle puppies, romp with young dogs, or walk with champions.

My husband and I booked this in Telkeenta and we could not have been happier. The operator and dog experience was great. We did dry mushing (although you do get wet and muddy) and got to play with the puppies. We learned a lot about the how the dogs are cared for and the strategies used in the Iditarod race. We did have the bus pick us up at our hotel which is a good idea or bring clothes to change into before you get in your car. The operator will give you boots to wear.

What an impressive, professional team! The woman who took our reservation was very thorough and accommodating. The trainer of young dogs (I didn't catch her name) did an amazing job of sharing her knowledge and passion for her "way of life." I couldn't have asked for a more Alaskan experience than listening to her and learning about the dogs, mushing, and the Ititarod race. Riding the very wet trail and meeting the dogs was a blast! If I come back, I'd love to get on the glacier tour to experience the "real thing."

Our family thoroughly enjoyed this! Especially my 7 year old daughter. She loved the ride, as well as playing with the puppies.
