The club itself, which had been a popular stop on what was known as the "Chitlin' Circuit," is no longer there, but Charlie's home is along with a reconstruction of his motel that was listed in THE GREEN BOOK, a guide for African-American travelers during segregation.

It was a rainy day at the beach, but we had the best time on the trolley tour. We learned about the movies made in the area, the musicians who performed, and some great history about the area. I especially enjoyed seeing Charlie's Place and hearing about his nightclub. I enjoyed touring the Fitzgerald Motel and seeing it set up in the period of its heyday. I would recommend this adventure to anyone looking for a good time. The presentation was informative and entertaining. It was wonderful having a local Myrtle Beach telling the story of the area. Also, she could add her own personal perspective. The pricing was reasonable and well worth the cost. When I am in the area again, I plan on taking another tour.
