What To Expect

Our student group reserved two trolleys for a tour of the Historical District. None of the students had ever been to Savannah. We could not have asked for better drivers. They where full of information and they made it interesting for the kids, getting them involved in the tour. Students loved it, and was so glad they had the tour instead of just wondering around the area. Better understanding of what Savannah is about. Perfect!

It saddens me to write a bad review but if I could save another family their few hours, it's worth it. We were tired, so I thought a trolley tour would be perfect. The town is pretty and the trolley had little cushions on the seat which was nice. Unfortunately, our driver (who gives the narration) was not at all very good. She didn't point things out, and when she did, we likely just passed it. She drove fine, but kinda slurred her words and would start talking and then stop mid sentence. Im not sure what was going on. We spoke with other passengers who were doing the hop on/hop off (same trolley) and they had other drivers earlier that morning who were fantastic. I booked this because it's recommended on the Viator site and I've always liked their tours.. so if you're considering, I would suggest having a conversation with the driver before getting on and maybe that would help. If you're wondering why we didn't get off, we didn't have the hop on/hop off portion, and someone mentioned they had waited 45minutes for this one. "Special guest" narrators hopped on at 3 or 4 stops (was hoping for more out of 16 stops) and they were excellent!! The tour seemed to last waaay more than 1.5 hours..

The trolley tour was an excellent introduction to Savannah. For first time visitors I recommend staying on the trolley for the full lap of the town. Your guide will give you great information while you get your bearings and see the city.
