Libby, our tour guide, met us on time and her cheerful demeanor made us feel relaxed and eager to learn about this amazing district of New Orleans. We knew it might rain, but she came with extra umbrellas to share, and assured us that we would be glad for the rain when it came. And we were--because the steamy tombs in the LaFayette Cemetery were pretty much melting us right into the stonework when the cloudburst blew in. She passed my husband an umbrella, and helped us take the typical down-pour in stride as she guided us under the colorful awning of the famous Commander's Palace, using this natural pause to tell us another interesting story behind this renowned restaurant. Our walking tour passed quickly, and I 'm amazed at how much we know now of this fascinating Garden District. Walking back to the Charles Stree trolley car,to go back to our hotel, I found myself wishing we had time to get Libby's take on the French Quarter! (Sigh) Since we are flying back to Colorado Springs tomorrow, that will have to wait for our next visit! We'll be back Libby.

What a beautifully-written review! You were troopers in that spontaneous storm, but I am glad the rain slacked so we could continue our exploration of the Garden District. You had so many great questions and insights, that our tour truly felt like a walk with friends. Please come back - to see your grandson, to tour with me in the French Quarter, for a plantation tour, and for those roseate spoonbills!

On a recent trip to New Orleans, took a fun and informative walking tour through the beautiful Garden District with Lucky Bean guide James. James was great, providing lots of interesting stories about the history of the area. I was especially interested to learn that Long Island's own poet Walt Whitman had once lived in the district (in a house also occupied much more recently by Anne Rice). Whitman even wrote a poem, an ode really, called "I Saw in Louisiana A Live-Oak Growing." This is just one of many fascinating and surprising stories James shared in his very personal and friendly way. I strongly recommend anyone visiting New Orleans take a tour with Lucky Bean through this special place and ask for James as your guide!

Thank you so much for visiting and reviewing! The Garden District is beautiful and James is great at sharing its stories. I am moved when I read Whitman's great poem and think of those trees, the same trees that he saw and that we see in the Garden District and all over New Orleans today. Please come back and let us treat you to a literary tour!

We did the garden district walking tour at the end of July. We chose the 10 am tour to try and avoid the heat as much as possible. It was a great tour that I highly recommend!! Our tour guide Josh was fantastic! He had a huge knowledge base and was very informative and answered all of our questions. You could tell he love New Orleans and was proud of the history. My sister and I were the only 2 on the tour and I think that made it even more special. Great price for a great tour. Make sure to ask for Josh as your tour guide!!

It is HOT here in July! But Josh is so charming and likeable, and has such great stories to tell, that it is not only bearable, but fun. I am so happy that you and your sister were able to meet Josh and explore the beautiful Garden District and the cemetery with him. Come again in the spring for a whole different feeling!
