Jonn is very knowledgeable, and a wonderful story teller... it will be very hard to fill in that shoe! However, I will do my utmost to learn.

Our tour began in a Treme Coffee Shop. We found our Tour Guide Yaya (Jonn) waiting with a large friendly, welcoming smile beckoning us to sit down. He instructed us to look around at the walls filled with amazing African American figures of the past hidden in plain site, that would become the tone of our tour. The realization that we were surrounded by an abundance of colorful history. We walked a steady pace through Armstrong park where Yaya would not only discuss the art/architecture, he also taught us the stories behind their creator's. We moved along to Congo Square, a place where we passed previously on our way to the tour - yet had no idea what took place there. Through his stories we could easily see the hundreds of people trading amongst eachother while imagining music and dancing. We walked the streets and took amazing photos, we could feel the love within the neighborhood as passing cars would wave at Yaya. This tour has peaked a new curiosity and desire to experience more within myself and partner. We've learned soo much in an afternoon walk and I would recommend this tour to anyone new to New Orleans. Thank you Yaya! -Tarah and Tash

Impossible to verbally give justice to just how much my daughter and I enjoyed this tour. Our guide, John, was excellent...full of insightful information and perspectives on everything we encountered. His breadth of knowledge of this area was amazing. I encourage anyone interested in learning of the colorful history of this fascinating district of New Orleans to book this tour...and be sure to ask for John to be your guide.
