What To Expect

New York Aquarium

From sea lion shows to penguin feeds, sand tiger sharks and common cuttlefish, there are a lot of marine animals for you to meet at the Aquarium.

It was a great experience to see all the sharks and the sea lions show. Love the under water view of the sharks and love to see the spineless section

Oh boy. I love aquariums and wanted to visit for my birthday this year. I’ve been to many different aquariums and having just Spent 60$ on just admission tickets and this was the most lackluster experience possible. It’s a very short but EXTREMELY crowded viewing. It’s like it was built to be a carnival aquarium attraction with the most bare minimum space for the animals and people to walk through alike. It’s designed as if built for parents to quickly rush their children through, which is sad by itself because children also deserve a fun viewing experience. Zero seating to sit and watch fish except for a single room for the Hudson fish. The touch pool is a literal joke - watched a child be rushed off after touching a single horseshoe crab with just my partner and myself in line, same thing happened to us. Same with the 4-D theater. Don’t even bother. Your chair just vibrates a bit and some bubbles come out down in the front. I don’t know why people say it’s a great learning experience for children as the Shark house is literally the only place that has even the slightest amount of info for kids. Everything else is like 2-15 words on a plaque. I really expected better, especially from NY. It’s tiny and cramped and honestly I feel bad for all The animals in the exhibits. I genuinely would not bother with it and just got the boardwalk or make the trip out to the Bronx Zoo - I feel it’s a much better experience.
