The tour was okay. It's nice to get an overview of NY, especially for first timers. We did the hop-on - hop-off downtown tour. On the first bus, there was a guide, who commented on everything. He was okay, but his jokes were awful and his voice very annoying. The automated audio tour in English was okay, but often it was a bit "off" as the bus would take another road and then what the audio guide would talk about was on the wrong side of the bus or not even visible. On the way back up town it even was delayed, It would tell you that a photo op was coming up, but in real time it had already passed.
We got out at Wall Street and wanted to hop on the bus an our later. An employee was on the side of the road on the bus stop and told us were to stand in line. There were about 4 people in front of us. Then he disappeared while we were waiting over half an hour for the next bus to arrive. When it finally arrived, the crowd was big and everyone pushed in front of us and the guide was nowhere to be seen and keep the cue in check. So the bus ended up being full before we even could get on, even though we were one of the first once there, originally. Eventually a second bus came and we elbowed our way in.
The second bus did not have a speaker, so we had to rely on the automated audio guide. As mentioned above, that one ended up being way delayed. I think the tour is way overpriced for the low quality it delivers.
