Overview

For ages 5 and up, this approx 90-min tour is an "overview" tour of scenic Newport.

After boarding our luxurious and comfortable trolley at platform #2 of the Newport Transit Center, your driver starts the tour with a brief history of Colonial-era downtown and explains the Gilded Age history and events that occurred over the centuries.

Then you will experience breath-taking views of scenic Ocean Drive prior to seeing the strip of mansions lining Bellevue Ave. Along the route, movie and TV sets will come to life, such as HBOs The Gilded Age, Hocus Pocus 2, The Great Gatsby, Amistad, True Lies, and a dozen more.

Today's happenings are also thoroughly covered such as the best dining spots, boat tours, and other fun activities. Your tour guide will detail the best way to navigate this bustling city as well as explain the Cliff Walk attractions.

The duration of this tour is 70-90 minutes, depending on traffic conditions
This tour departs promptly at scheduled time. We cannot hold the trolley for stragglers. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure. We may sell the seats of passengers who are not on time to others who are waiting on standby
There are no refunds to passengers who arrive late and miss the tour
Our drivers have updated manifests on their smart phones. Cancelled tickets are not accepted for admission
Youth under 17 must be accompanied by an adult
The trolley is not handicapped accessible. Driver may assign seating based on customer's physical needs
There are no longer any covid restrictions. All seats and rows are utilized and face coverings are not required

Our group of elders from Massachusetts had an excellent tour of Newport by Carlo. He is so very knowledgeable about his city and relates the information in a very engaging way. He loves Newport, you can tell. There is so much to see in Newport. I had no idea. All I can say is "request Carlo," you will be so glad you did!

OUTSTANDING! The tour guide, Russ, was excellent - he knows more about Newport mansions, history, old family dirt and places to eat and drink than I could have ever imagined. He has an endless store of facts and some not-so facts, lots of local tips that out of towners would never have known about, and a few really corny jokes - I'm not sure when he breathes, but he sure enjoys telling the local stories. Captain chairs on the trolley are very nice - much more comfortable than the benches on the open-air trolley. I will absolutely take this tour again next time we return to Newport.

Russ had a wealth of information and was really funny. I took the tour twice. Once as soon as I arrived and the day before I left because it was so good and informative. I would do it again if I come back.
