What To Expect

The Breakers

Tour includes Admission to ONE of the following Newport Mansions: The Breakers, The Marble House, or Rosecliff. The Breakers is the grandest of Newport's summer "cottages" and a symbol of the Vanderbilt family's social and financial preeminence in turn of the century America. *As of January 3, 2022 all Preservation Society of Newport Mansions are requiring proof of vaccines for all children aged 5 and up. As of January 15, 2022 all adults must also show proof of their Booster Vaccines. This policy is No Exceptions!

I took my kids ages 11 & 13 on this tour and the absolutely loved it! Our tour guide (I believe his name was John) did a wonderful job showing us around and providing information to us. This is definitely a good way to see the sites of Newport hassle free!

Our family enjoyed the trolley ride as first timers in Newport. We planned out our week with a purposeful holes in our schedule. Our guide, a retired history and religions Catholic school teacher and long time resident of the area, gave a wonderful animated overall history of the town. As part of the tour, we saw the Breakers Mansion. His talk was a deciding factor in our decision to do the Cliff Walk and water taxi to the different ports on our open days, rather than tour another mansion. We’ll hit others on our next trip. We had no idea tennis and baseball were so important to Newport until he enlightened us. It was more affordable than some of the other rides around town and definitely worth it!

Riding through Newport & along the coast, learning the history of the area & visiting the Breakers Mansion. However, the best part was Joe our tour guide, he was excellent, very personable, knowledgeable and a great guy, he made the trip EXCELLENT!
