What To Expect

The Breakers

Tour includes Admission to ONE of the following Newport Mansions: The Breakers, The Marble House, or Rosecliff. The Breakers is the grandest of Newport's summer "cottages" and a symbol of the Vanderbilt family's social and financial preeminence in turn of the century America. *As of January 3, 2022 all Preservation Society of Newport Mansions are requiring proof of vaccines for all children aged 5 and up. As of January 15, 2022 all adults must also show proof of their Booster Vaccines. This policy is No Exceptions!

Trolley tour was well organized dropping off and picking up passengers according to your type of ticket i.e. tour only one house or two. I opted for tour with Breakers. Although tour operator announced no bathroom breaks and encouraged passengers to use tourist center facilities before leaving, there were clean bathrooms at Breakers welcome center plus a small cafe. First, tour left off Marble house and told they had an hour. Then, we were left at Breakers and told we had an 1.25 hrs. Trolley driver made sure we had our paper tickets for the house entrance which she distributed upon entering the trolley. I really enjoyed the tour around Newport and hearing about the history of the town especially the owners of the summer “cottages”. The views were beautiful. I’m sorry I didn’t include Marble house on my ticket as I wanted to get back earlier.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable. I was impressed by all that I did not know about the history of Newport. The RoseCliff mansion was amazing and the time allotted was sufficient and more than enough as I had plenty of time to walk the grounds and take pictures. The views were dreamy and Mansion road was incredible! I enjoyed the tour and it was a perfect way to spend the day.
