What To Expect

The Breakers

Tour includes Admission to ONE of the following Newport Mansions: The Breakers, The Marble House, or Rosecliff. The Breakers is the grandest of Newport's summer "cottages" and a symbol of the Vanderbilt family's social and financial preeminence in turn of the century America. *As of January 3, 2022 all Preservation Society of Newport Mansions are requiring proof of vaccines for all children aged 5 and up. As of January 15, 2022 all adults must also show proof of their Booster Vaccines. This policy is No Exceptions!

Out first time in Newport, this tour is exactly the overview and history that we were looking for. Our tour guide, Ray, was extremely knowledgeable! Don't bypass this tour...its a must!

We toured the summer cottages and the Breakers on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 1:30 pm. There were several major issues with our tour that day. While we were excited to learn the history of Newport, we were unable to hear what the tour the guide was telling us due to the poor sound quality of the speaker system and/or headset problems. This sentiment was shared with the tour guide by other attendees and was not fixed. The air conditioner was barely functional on one of the hottest days of the year and it was quite oppressive. And finally, his driving skills especially around tight corners needs improvement. Overall, our tour experience was very unsatisfactory.

Our trolley ride and visit to The Breakers was excellent. Our driver was knowledgeable and entertaining. Everything ran on time. Comfortable ride.
