Chena Hot Springs Resort
After wandering through the cool museum, don your bathing suit and enjoy the resort’s legendary namesake. The revitalizing mineral water soothes muscles with its warm temperatures of 106 degrees F (41 degrees C) year-round. You can also soak under the stars in an outdoor hot tub, or indoors in the heated pool. In between, slip away to the Aurora Café or the historic Resort Restaurant, where you can purchase meals, snacks, or beverages. When ready, join your expert guide for a small-group outing to view the Aurora Borealis. Your guide will lead you through one of the best places on earth to witness the green and purple illuminations loop across the night sky. Wait and witness the celestial wonder with hot beverages in the late evening, when viewing opportunities are the highest. The lights are also visible inside the cafe's Aurora Room, which serves as a comfortable and warm location for viewings. Note: We can never guarantee the Northern lights sighting.

The pool and hot springs, being wheelchair accessible even though there was snow and ice everywhere!

We did not see the northern lights! It was a clear night. The sun activities were low. Driving to and return from the resort took 5 hours. We arrived at our hotel a 3.00 AM.

We are sorry that you did not enjoy your trip with us. While we hope that on every tour our guests get the experience to see the northern lights, this is something that we cannot guarantee. We have had tours that go out with a Kp index of 2 and have seen a beautiful Aurora show and on the other hand we have had tours go out with a Kp index of 6 and were not able to see the Aurora at all. The Kp index provides us with a valuable estimate of where the lights will be visible, not a guarantee. Other factors like the weather play roles in being able to see the lights as well. Looking back at the trip log for the night of your tour it seems like there was a faint Aurora around 1030p and then the clouds did come in roughly around 11pm making visibility challenging. Our guides take our guests' safety as a top priority when providing transportation to and from our tours. The drive to and from Chena Hot Springs can be lengthy dependent on the weather, road conditions and hotel locations. We strive to provide excellent service on all of our tours, and we are sorry that you do not feel that this was provided to you on this tour. Please feel free to contact our office if you would like to discuss your experience on this tour with us.

We drove around to search for the lights and found them even on a cloudy evening! Our guide searched so hard for us, driving around to several spots and a break in the clouds. We finally found them and saw them right above us, so great! Also the hot springs were fun!
