First, my expectations may have been offā¦when I signed up for this, I expected the tour guide to take us to āknown placesā to see the lights. Yes, this did occur. However, I think my original expectation was that they would take us to an off the beaten path location. This tour consisted of being driven to a popular viewing site and there were people coming and going with lights turned on. The location was one clearly listed on the internet as a place to go. I could have driven us there for a heck of a lot less. So to me, this was not worth the money at all. Driver was nice, but no explanation of really what to look for, so do your research before you go.

Natalie,
We apologize that your experience fell short of your expectations. Murphy Dome is one of the best places to try to spot the aurora in the Fairbanks area. And, March is probably the busiest month of the entire aurora season for tour operators in the interior of Alaska. And finally, your tour occurred on the busiest week of the busiest week of that busiest month. Some of the popular viewing sites such as Murphy Dome can become overwhelmed at these times, and we regret that this impacted your tour. Our guides will typically divert to our other viable viewing locations at times such as this, and we will investigate why that didn't happen in this instance. There are many reasons why people will choose our tours, despite the routes being publicly known. There are a good number of people who do not feel safe driving in the icy conditions that our roads are in for about 7 months out of the year. Additionally, places such as Murphy Dome have unfinished roads that almost every rental car company in this area will prohibit you from driving on with their vehicles. We would finally like to point out that if other visitors would like to come at less busy times, November through February are not nearly as crowded at the popular sites in this area.
