Wilderness Aware Rafting
Meet at our riverside headquarters located just 2 miles South of Buena Vista, Colorado 30-45 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. Upon arrival our helpful staff will direct you on how to prepare for the day and will make recommendations about rental gear (wetsuits, splash jackets and river shoes) based on weather/ water conditions. After getting changed into your river clothes and receiving a comprehensive safety orientation, we will transport you about 15 minutes to the river put-in location. After paddling through 6 miles of the heart pumping rapids of the Numbers section you will either end your half-day trip and return to our office, or if you are doing the full-day trip you will enjoy a riverside lunch. The full-day trip then continues into the technical class III-IV Narrows section and ends at our office take-out. Don't forget to view your photos before saying good bye to your guide!

Amazing trip!!! We did the half day of Numbers. Gato was our guide - she was fantastic!!! We felt very safe with her guidance and the entire experience was so fun!!! From getting signed in and getting fitted for gear, to the safety briefing, to learning the paddle commands, Gato and the crew made every step of the process fun! The river was gorgeous and the rapids were so exciting!!! Gatoā€™s expertise and gentle commands - just so smooth she made it seem like we were experts ourselves! I HIGHLY recommend Wilderness Aware Rafting! Everyone we encountered was top notch. Shout out to Thad, too, for being our spotter and getting us all where we needed to be. Canā€™t wait to come back!

Our guide Tony was excellent and pro on the water. The company was very professional and every staff member was super friendly. Would recommend this company over all the others, and we will be back again next summer.

From the conversation while making the reservation (I really appreciated that you couldn't simply make the reservation on-line--my conversation with Jody was helpful and she was professional and friendly), to the check-in, to the trip itself, we could not have asked for a better experience. Our family had never whitewater rafted, but were sufficiently athletic to adapt quickly to the skills needed to navigate the river without leaving the boat. Michael, our guide, was exceptional, serious about the effort require to navigate the rapids and highly skilled, yet very funny too. We were all sorry the trip ended so soon. One final note: I left my sandals and swimsuit on one of the picnic tables, only discovering this after we'd arrived at a campground an hour away. Jody again answered the phone when I called and made sure that I could retrieve these items when we passed back through Buena Vista a few days later. Keep up the great work!
