This is a very a typical tourist attraction, but I was still impressed. I would recommend booking ahead of time with NYC sightseeing passes or even without a pass as there is a time entry and limit to the number of visitors at a given time.
On the day I was, visibility was awesome and you can see all of Manhattan and Staten Island.
My spouse and I are collectors and love the museum shops to find small things to remind us of the visit. For a museum, the prices were fair, and if you buy the upgraded tickets, you get a a $15 per person credit for use in the restaurant or the gift shop so that is worth it. Plus you get admission immediately with no wait for entry and and exit.
The views itself are spectacular, the the City View lecture was part of the tour and was o.k. The lecture is varied based on the time of the event and the person providing the info. When we there, the lecture was given every sixty minutes on the half hour. I caught only part of the first show, but I liked what I heard and did not realize the material and info differs every show.
As you walk toward the elevator to go up, look around first on the entry floor at those exhibits and even some details on how the new Tower was built. And yes, there are many reminders, about the previous towers to make us all appreciate and respect what occurred over twenty years ago now, but still fresh in my mind.

Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience with us. I’m sure our future visitors will appreciate the pointers on making the most of their visit! Very glad to hear that you enjoyed the City Pulse show; you're right, our Tour Ambassadors each have their own spin on what makes NYC so special. We hope you will join us again in the future!
