This is my last time booking through this site. I purchased two tickets to the NYC Statue of Liberty cruise for one day. The cruise was canceled due to the weather (it was lightly snowing). I only know of the cancellation because I called the tour provider on the day of the cruise -- I received no notification of cancellation from Trip Advisor. The lady who answered the phone at New York Water Tours (tour provider) told me there would be no refunds as the ticket was nonrefundable. They said to contact Trip Advisor with any further refund questions. I went to the Trip Advisor site to try to contact customer support. No one answers the phone. Trip Advisor simply directs you to their online help center where you can input your question and theoretically get an answer. The information I seek does not appear, and there does not appear to be any reasonably efficient way to request a refund or to speak to a live person. This has been a frustrating experience. I was leaving New York and could not simply use the tickets another day.

after looking for things to do that doesn't break the bank, I found this water tour on Groupon. I do have to say, getting here was a challenge. We rode the subway, then the bus and them walked what seemed like forever. In a pretty shady neighborhood. Fortunately, we are adventurous amd always up for anything. So we finally did find pier 36, but like another review stated, not much in the way of direction once you're there. Online says arrive anytime and boats leave at 1230, 230 and 330. No reservation needed. We got there are 1220 and got in what we assumed was the right line. A guy came down the line, redeemed our Groupon so we knew we were good. Finally started loading up, and we got ALL the way to the boat and it was full. The Groupon advertised a 75 minute tour. The employee, not the captain, stated they were at capacity per the captain and we'd have to wait for the next boat in 40 minutes. So we all assumed there was a second boat coming along behind the first. But that wasn't the case. We stood in line, outside, in the freezing cold for 60 minutes until the same boat arrived. Tje tour itself was amazing. It was super cold and windy but we expected that. Wesley was our tour guide and he was absolutely fabulous. He was informative and funny and had an apparent love for the city. I wish I'd been able to stay in town and hang with Wesley for a few days! Im from Texas and found myself wanting to move to Brooklyn! Anyway, after the tour, which was only 60 minutes long, not 75 we got off the boat and found ourselves not too sure of where to go. Some purple came off buses and were able to get right back on those, but we walked and walked and walked. We couldn't even get a cab! So here we were in lower east side, no can and no idea where to go. My advice is for the tour company to maybe call ahead and ask the can company's to make a few rounds there. It's pretty secluded so they could park and wait a few minutes. and to just be upfront about how long the tour is and what to expect. As tourists go, we elect a bit of adventure and change. But I was with my teenage sons and it was all a bit too much work to get there and get back Totally worth the Groupon price. I'm super glad I didn't pay the full regular price! I definitely recommend the tour though!
