Overview
Explore the world’s largest subway system, the beating heart of the city that never sleeps.

- See the architectural ghosts of the nearly forgotten and partially abandoned, Chambers Street station nicknamed the “Grand Central of Downtown”
- Discover the remnants of Union Square Station as you learn about a hidden art installation thousands of riders walk by everyday
- Use the 6 train as your own time machine as you ride through abandoned subway stations that most seasoned NYC commuters don’t know exist
- Explore the birth of the NYC subway system through amazing archival photos not available to the public
- Learn about the comically short route of the mythical “Subway before the Subway,” Alfred Ely Beach’s Pneumatic Transit System

Guests will need one MetroCard swipe or OMNY tap to enter the subway.

Please note that although you will see abandoned subway stations from the train, the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) doesn't grant public access into them under any circumstances.

Not quite what we expected - but it was great. Alexis was terrific - she had so many stories and facts to share. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

The details given concerning the building of the subway and the background political and business arrangements of that building were detailed, concise, and sometimes surprising/amusing to me even though I am a native New Yorker. The artwork, old and new, was explained with a history tied in to the physical and population expansion of New York City. It was physically easy tour of two hours and worth it for the commentary. I would love to take another tour in stations further uptown.

Loved the NYC Subway tour…and I’m saying that as a New Yorker who regularly rides the subway. AJ, our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and did a great job keeping us moving along because we covered a lot of ground.
