A three hour, whirlwind ride on the Lynn Canal from Skagway Harbor towards Haines, Alaska and back to Skagway provides excitement (30 MPH ride and donut stops), education (the naturalist discussed highlights at each stop), and the joy and entertainment of seeing the Alaskan wild. The boat is a semirigid, 26 ft inflatable that accommodates 26 guests plus staff, which includes the captain and a naturalist. Guests are provided with ocean survival suits so if the weather is inclement, you are warm and well protected. Large pockets in the survival suits will safely house cameras between stops. Of note, we saw many bald eagles setting in lofty spruce or hemlock trees, an eagles nest, many waterfalls cascading down the mountain, a couple of sunning seals, and the beautiful combination of water and mountains that is Alaska. The seas were smooth and sky clear on our trip-an ideal Alaskan travel day. The boat was comfortable, the staff was knowledgeable and courteous, and the weather was perfect.

Everyone on the staff from the bus driver, tour guide, boat driver, and assistants at their station was helpful and made us really enthusiastic about the adventure and being in Alaska. We saw and learned about so much of the plants and wildlife in Alaska on this trip and were able to access spots that we never would have been able to on a cruise ship. Getting close to seals, bald eagles, and beautiful water falls was such a cool experience. I'd recommend this for anyone interested in seeing the true pristine beauty of Alaska and learning about how it came to be this way! A note for people with motion sickness: I usually feel nauseated in cars, planes, trains, and boats. I had no problem at all with the motion on this boat!

We had such a great time on the Ocean Raft trip. This should be the number 1 attraction for Skagway! They should be lining up to ride!!! And what a ride we had. Ashley our captain and Jennifer our tour guide we were shown the shore the ins and outs and many turns!!!! Beautiful waterfalls, seals, and many bald eagles. There were 5 of us in our group and we all felt the same exhilarating adventure!!! We would do it again!
