Fantastic day out on the water watching all sorts of wildlife. We all felt very fortunate that our boat was dazzled by orca whales. They were absolutely beautiful and left us all gasping in awe as three of them swam under our boat. It was an experience that I will never forget. The boat itself was great for viewing from inside or outside on the deck. Our tour guide was wonderful and informative. I highly recommend Outer Island Expeditions for your whale watching adventure!

This was a wonderful way to see more of the San Juan's. Expedition started on time. We had a great pilot and guide. The historical notes on all the islands we rounded were as interesting as the wildlife. We saw several whales, one of whom came up to say hello just about fifty feet from the boat (don't be concerned about that if you've never been on a whale-watching tour, these fellows are extremely boat friendly - they know the safe distances to sound and dive). Oakley Island (yes, the sunglasses people) has become a preserve of sorts for the exotic animals the family brought in back in the 30's. There are herds of goats and antelopes that have thrived on the island since. This was part of our Honeymoon trip to Orcas, and the entire visit, including this tour, was magical.

Orcas Island whale watching. Embarked at Eastsound, Orcas Island. Whale sightenings were guaranteed, was a bit skeptical, but the promise was kept. Genuinely friendly and knowledgeable staff. Excursion boat accommodated approximately 30 people, upper and closed lower decks. Were very fortunate in whale sightings for over 1 hour. Staff observed all required distance regulations from whales. Observed sea loins and a bald eagle. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. I recommend Outer Island Excursions! Not an activity for small children. If you bring children, bring appropriate clothing. It can be cold.
