My husband and I absolutely love this company! Our first experience with them was 2 years ago when we came to Orcas with my parents. We did a day trip kayaking around Sucia Island renting single kayaks. We have some kayaking experience and had brought our own gear, so they allowed us to go without a guide after signing a waiver. It was the highlight of our trip! Lots of wildlife, great paddling, and an absolutely wonderful day all around. They transported us over to the island by boat towing the kayaks, and picked us up when we were done. They also do guided tours of Sucia as well. We had such a great time the next day we booked a whale watching trip, which was equally as amazing. They also rented us two single kayaks for the week to use around the island on our own, which allowed for great little trips exploring other parts of Orcas and Shaw Island while we were here. We were very impressed by their high quality touring kayaks. After such a great experience 2 years ago, my husband and I decided to come back to Orcas on our honeymoon. We knew immediately we wanted to go back to Outer Island Expeditions. We booked a whale watching tour yesterday and were able to see a group of transient orca with a calf hunting a sea lion. The calf jumped out of the water multiple times and we took some amazing pictures! Captain Paul was excellent and knew right where to go to give us the most time with the whales! Today we rented single kayaks for a half day and went to explore Point Doughty. They have guided tours for this as well. We have been very pleased with all of our experiences with Outer Island Expeditions and definitely plan to use them again the next time we visit Orcas Island!

I rarely leave reviews but this whale watch was too good not to leave a review. The company was excellent, Captain Paul and our guide who I'm sadly blanking on her name were absolutely amazing. It's been my dream and on my bucket list to see the Orca whales in person and I'm so happy to say I was not disappointed at all. Our guide was so informative and friendly and nice. The energy on the boat from both Captain Paul and our guide was great. We ended up seeing a pod of transient whales and were able to watch them for a while. We even saw them hunt down a harbor porpoise and catch it, which we were told is very rare to see. I can not say enough great things about the whale watch, employees, company, and overall experience. There are a lot of different companies to choose from and I had found it hard to decide but you will not regret going with Outer Island Expeditions!!! This is a great tour for anyone! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Paul and Anna were great hosts & we definitely recommend this trip. There were several other companies advertising Groupon prices for a Whale watching trip this week. My sister had been out on a kayak trip with Outer Island and was very pleased - so I called and they volunteered a coupon that was buy 1 get 1 for 50% off - and we gladly booked with them . Any time you go on an outing like this you have to realize there are no guarantees. Captain Paul expertly guided us around the San Juan Islands in the "Blackfin 2" - it was a well appointed clean boat and he stressed safety. First they took us to observe "L pod" group of Orcas .. I was impressed with the care they took not to infringe on the whales and they readily answered questions from us all - non stop! They were able to identify some of the specific whales and tell us a bit about them , and explained that the biologists responsible for studying them are stationed on San Juan Island . They also introduced us to a group of harbor seals , a seal lion, doll porpoises& harbor porpoises, some Fallon deer and a group of ram sheep not native to the area . We paused and watched the rams lock horns and battle for dominance . Great experience we will always remember
