Original La Jolla Sea Cave Kayak Tour for Two

Overview
The Original Sea Cave Kayak Tour (90 Minutes in Length) offers unforgettable guided tours through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate through the unique ecological habitats while seeing different types of marine life.

This highly-protected and unique area boasts one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in the West Coast. Guests commonly encounter seals, sea lions, and a multitude of birds and fish, and lucky guests might even see dolphins or whales!

Towards the southern end of the Ecological Reserve, La Jolla's Seven Sea Caves patiently await, allowing participants to witness their beauty. Weather permitting, participants can kayak through the large sea cave that goes from the ocean into the Emerald Cove.
Entry into the Emerald Cave depends on the safety, and is not guaranteed. Participants must be five years or older to participate in the tour.

Valid for up to two people to ride in a double kayak.

Had the best time! First time kayaking and it was a memorable experience. Did not rent wetsuit and the water temp was perfect. Hannah and Trevor were great guides. Very knowledgeable and patient with everyone. Will definitely return!

Of the 15 or so guided tours I’ve experienced in my life, this was by far the worst. Do not do this tour. It’s a waste of money. Maybe in the middle of summer you can see the things they advertise. We didn’t go within 300 yards of the caves. Our guides were useless. The only animal life we saw was a seagull flying above us. Just horrible. Bad, bad, bad. I called on Monday and they told me Friday didn’t look good but Saturday we would ā€œprobablyā€ go into the cave. They knew dang well that wasn’t going to happen. But they tell you what you want to hear so you’ll sign up and they can take your money. If you’re in San Diego, there are so many incredible things to do. Don’t waste your time here.

Brenden, Thank you for your review. We all get upset when the caves are too dangerous to enter. Cave access is dependent on safe entry and determined by lifeguards throughout the day and can change at any moment. Waves on Saturday were forecasted much smaller than Friday and safer in comparison with a better chance at cave entry. Unfortunately, storms and forecasts also shift and change day to day. For this reason, we are grateful to work closely with lifeguards, who give us recommended routes to keep our guests safe while on the water every day. During larger swell events, lifeguards also prohibit kayak rentals, in which case guided tours are the only permitted way to explore the cove on a kayak. As you experienced, the forecasted storm shifted late in the week, impacting our ideal routes and cave access on Saturday. While many others had a great time on Saturday, it sounds like your experience was overall negative. Please email [email protected] to tell me more about your experience and why you considered our tour guides "useless." Further, if you are interested, we can schedule a new adventure with a better shot at safe cave entry. Best, Josh Operations Manager
