The Original Sea Cave Kayak Tour (90 Minutes in Length) offers unforgettable guided tours through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate through the unique ecological habitats while seeing different types of marine life.

This highly-protected and unique area boasts one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in the West Coast. Guests commonly encounter seals, sea lions, and a multitude of birds and fish, and lucky guests might even see dolphins or whales!

Towards the southern end of the Ecological Reserve, La Jolla's Seven Sea Caves patiently await, allowing participants to witness their beauty. Weather permitting, participants can kayak through the large sea cave that goes from the ocean into the Emerald Cove.
Entry into the Emerald Cave depends on the safety, and is not guaranteed. Participants must be five years or older to participate in the tour.

Valid for up to two people to ride in a double kayak.

We could see Garibaldi fish and Nurse Sharks right below us. We "met" a sea lion inside the cave - he wasn't too interested in us. We paddled right over an actual fault line - the geology was fascinating. Our guides made it fun and interesting. The water was clear and cool (not really that cold) - but I was thankful for the wet suit! Loved every minute of our experience!

Hi! I did this sea cave kayak tour and I really enjoyed staying in the water..it was my first time ocean kayaking and I loved it very much. I didn’t see much of sealife that day but the staff upon reservation and check-in we’re all friendly and helpful. Our two guides were also full of energy and very good at explaining some fun facts about the area where we went kayaking. The only Advice I can give would be to wait until the whole group is reunited after paddling before starting a new explanation, I was on my own and most of the other participants on the tour were couples so obviously they were faster than me and I was arriving always when the explanation had already started. Other than this I had such a great experience! Totally recommend it

We went kayaking this morning and had an amazing trip! Josh, the person that checked us in, gave me his personal dry bag to use for my insulin pump, that was so thoughtful. And Tiffany, our tour guide was great. She told us all about the habitats that we were kayaking through and was very knowledgeable. We saw sea lions and leopard sharks everywhere!! We highly recommend this tour company!
