Original La Jolla Sea Cave Kayak Tour for Two

Overview
The Original Sea Cave Kayak Tour (90 Minutes in Length) offers unforgettable guided tours through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate through the unique ecological habitats while seeing different types of marine life.

This highly-protected and unique area boasts one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in the West Coast. Guests commonly encounter seals, sea lions, and a multitude of birds and fish, and lucky guests might even see dolphins or whales!

Towards the southern end of the Ecological Reserve, La Jolla's Seven Sea Caves patiently await, allowing participants to witness their beauty. Weather permitting, participants can kayak through the large sea cave that goes from the ocean into the Emerald Cove.
Entry into the Emerald Cave depends on the safety, and is not guaranteed. Participants must be five years or older to participate in the tour.

We had two lady tour guides named Lindsey and another girl, Iā€™m not sure how to spell her name but it sounded like ā€œceleryā€ without the ā€œcā€ but my boyfriend and I enjoyed them very much, they made us feel very safe and welcome!

Josh and Tif were awesome guides as this was our first time Kayaking in the ocean. We came all the way from NY and they made the day so special for us. I absolutely recommend doing this tour!

First of all, the store is super cute and everyone who worked there was so friendly and made us all feel welcome. I took my 3 kids (10 and 12 boys, 16 girl) and my mom - we all had a blast. I'm not the most adventurous type, so I didn't love the scary parts of getting out to sea and coming back in - but my kids and mom loved it. It was actually hilarious bc it's pretty intense, but we just kept paddling as they told us and we made it out! On our walk down to the beach I felt like a big ol' dork in my life jacket and helmet, but were thankful for them once my anxiety started kicking in :) My 10 year old rode with our guide Cal and he was very cool to him. Both guides had a lot to say about the places we kayaked to - very interesting and knowledgeable. We didn't get to go in the caves bc of the waves but just being out on the water taking in the views was amazing enough. We did see a sea lion! I would for sure recommend taking Dramamine if you are prone at all to motion sickness - I didn't and wish I would have. I didn't think you could get sea sick in a kayak but let me tell you, you can! The swell was huge out there, which was fun to be in but definitely affected a few of us. The guides were cool though and took a few of the puker boats in before the rest of the group. I was anxious about coming in the entire time, but it honestly was not as scary as I thought it would be. And we even flipped over! But the guides were right there to help us. Don't expect a leisurely stroll - it's definitely a lot of paddling, but well worth it and the guides are there to help if you get nervous or topple over as several of us did. Afterwards we walked to a cute restaurant to refuel and warm up under the heat lamps and recount our adventure, had a couple of cocktails and then walked back down to the beach for honestly the most incredible sunset I've ever seen. And I'm a sunset girl. It was magnificent. Highly recommend!
