The Original Sea Cave Kayak Tour (90 Minutes in Length) offers unforgettable guided tours through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate through the unique ecological habitats while seeing different types of marine life.

This highly-protected and unique area boasts one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in the West Coast. Guests commonly encounter seals, sea lions, and a multitude of birds and fish, and lucky guests might even see dolphins or whales!

Towards the southern end of the Ecological Reserve, La Jolla's Seven Sea Caves patiently await, allowing participants to witness their beauty. Weather permitting, participants can kayak through the large sea cave that goes from the ocean into the Emerald Cove.
Entry into the Emerald Cave depends on the safety, and is not guaranteed. Participants must be five years or older to participate in the tour.

Valid for up to two people to ride in a double kayak.

My family of four did the sea caves kayak tour. Unfortunately for us the waves were too rough to allow us to enter the caves safely, and it was too late in the season to see whales. We did have a sea lion come and perform a bit for our group, but otherwise there wasn't much wildlife to see. We just paddled around the cove for a while. The instructors were certainly fun and the location is beautiful, only disappointment was not seeing a bit more.

My boyfriend and I did the sea cave kayaking tour for 2 and loved it. It was a bit scary going into the ocean that day as it was super windy and I'm not the best swimming (had a lifejacket on). Once you get past the big waves on shore the rest is great. We had to female tour guides who were very informative. We also got to see lots of fish and and dolphins. We were taken into the cave in groups of 2 kayaks by the guides and they take your photo for you inside the caves. We would def. recommend. We are from east coast of Canada and still found the water cold, we would recommend wetsuits for sure. We got them and were so glad we did!

John and Terry were skilled, informative, and fun guides. They even had to tow an older couple most of the time and did it graciously! The highlight was seeing a baby gray whale about 20 feet away from us.
