Original La Jolla Sea Cave Kayak Tour for Two

Overview
The Original Sea Cave Kayak Tour (90 Minutes in Length) offers unforgettable guided tours through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate through the unique ecological habitats while seeing different types of marine life.

This highly-protected and unique area boasts one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in the West Coast. Guests commonly encounter seals, sea lions, and a multitude of birds and fish, and lucky guests might even see dolphins or whales!

Towards the southern end of the Ecological Reserve, La Jolla's Seven Sea Caves patiently await, allowing participants to witness their beauty. Weather permitting, participants can kayak through the large sea cave that goes from the ocean into the Emerald Cove.
Entry into the Emerald Cave depends on the safety, and is not guaranteed. Participants must be five years or older to participate in the tour.

Valid for up to two people to ride in a double kayak.

What a great tour! Though we did not get to enter the caves, our guides, Michael and Greg were a wealth of knowledge. My 80 year old mother rode with Michael and he ensured that she had an experience of a lifetime. He took good care of her. Thank you Greg and Michael! We would highly recommend this experience even if we didn't get to see the caves. We did see a sea lion eating a fish just before we departed for shore. So fun. Then he decided to follow one of the boats in and then came up alongside my sister and my son as they caught a wave to shore. What an experience. Not one time did I feel uncomfortable. Definitely take advantage of this opportunity!

The tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable and it was nice kayaking out on the ocean. We did not go into the caves, and it appears that this is common. We called ahead the day before to ask at what time the tides will be appropriate to enter the caves, and were told that they never know until they are right at the front of the caves. The guide however told me that there are very specific times (positive high tide) when they can go in. BTW, none of the other tour companies went into the caves while we were out there either. So bottom line is that this is a great ocean kayak tour, and if you're lucky you'll go into the caves, but plan on not going in. The tour company probably won't be upfront about this but do your homework as much as you can before booking. Talk to other people getting of tours, and get info about the previous day tours etc.

My husband and I went out with our two kids (12 and 9). We had fun and our guides Michael and Alli were funny and informative. Sadly the water was choppy so we couldnā€™t go into the caves. And we didnā€™t see any sea life. I know they canā€™t control that. It was still a fun experience. We rented the wet suits $11 and was glad we did. The water was chilly.
