Bill took us out on an early private tour at 7:30 in the morning. Couldn’t ask for a better time. Great knowledge of the river and wildlife. We were able to see a manatee and her calf up close within minutes of starting our voyage! Look forward to going again.

We had a very personable guide. A local man born and raised in the area with an incredible knowledge of the birds, animals, and flora of the area. We did see several manatee but not the droves we would normally expect for this time of year...probably due to the unseasonably warm weather we had experienced in the previous week. We saw more than half a dozen gaiters ranging from very young to about ten feet in length. He also identified at least half a dozen different bird species such as great blue heron. Most of the wildlife gave us great photo opportunities as they allowed us to come very close to them. His pacing made paddling easy in spite of going against a 20 km wind and river currents as we moved upstream for half the time. I would highly recommend this out of the way excursion as you will actually see Florida wildlife in the protected environs of the blue springs state park.
