What To Expect
1
Baerlic Brewing Company
This is a sample itinerary, all schedules are subject to change. Longtime partners in crime, Baerlic Brewing owners Ben and Rik attended high school together, and have been homebrewing together for the better part of a decade. The boys recently made the leap to owning and running a professional brewery, and that leap of faith has more than paid off, as Ben and Rick are now known for making some of the best and most innovative beers in town. Ben is one of the best graphic artists in town and created all of Baerlic’s swag. Rik also happens to be one of the best bike mechanics in town, and utilizes his mechanical skills in the brewhouse, including an event which allowed taproom guests were able to hop on a bike and mill grain just by pedaling!
2
Upright Brewery
Upright Brewing specializes in farmhouse inspired beers rooted in France and Belgium, but made with a Pacific Northwest twist, dabbling in both classic and quirky projects from around the world. The name references the primary instrument of Charles Mingus, a musician whose compositions, like Upright’s brews, defy categorization. At Upright, the recipes and processes are decidedly unbound, making for true hybrid styles that share Mingus’ spirit of exercising creativity and craft.

We enjoyed this tour around three East Portland breweries - Ecliptic, Stormbreaker and Old Town Brewing Co. We tried some interesting beers and our tour guide gave us some details on the composition of beers. We also got a tour of one of the breweries and had some great snacks at the last brewery.

My boyfriend only had one day to see Portland and this was perfect. Our group was awesome and our tour guide Alex was excellent and made it a super fun experience for everyone. It was nice to be driven around learning about some history of Portland while drinking really good beer, couldn't ask for a more perfect tour. I don't think I can ever go on another tour that doesn't involve getting driven around on a mini bus!

Whether you are just visiting, have guests from out of town or live here and just want to have a fun day, a Brewvana Tour is the ticket. There are tour choices, the guides are knowledgeable and lots of fun and of our tasting the beer is what its all about. You usually visit 3 or 4 breweries and will three or four samples at each brewery. Some tours include trying sours and other innovations in brewing. Best part of the trip is you're not driving just enjoying the beer. This had been a go to experience whenever we have out of town guests and even as a local, this. is just plain fun!
