Paddleboard Yoga Class in Honolulu

Overview
Experience yoga while floating on the crystal clear waters of Honolulu, Hawaii. Standup paddleboard yoga is a unique adventure that combines the physical challenges of practicing yoga on a paddleboard with the majestic beauty of Hawaii’s oceans and shorelines. Classes available for all levels. Small group sizes ensure personalized attention from our highly qualified instructors, allowing each student to work at their own ability level. The SUP yoga classes include many familiar yoga poses adapted to the water. Most of the poses are done seated, kneeling, or lying down, with a few standing poses as well to work on balance and core stability. Free time is incorporated into each class, giving students a chance to try any poses they would like to work on. Classes end with traditional savasana, a meditation experienced lying on the board with the soft rocking of the oceans waves, fingers and toes trailing into the water, and the mind free to relax and let go.

I did the 9 am stand-up paddleboard yoga class, and it was so much fun! Tabitha was parked exactly where she said she would be with the Yoga Floats van. She had reef-safe sunscreen and even offered me a little strap to keep my sunglasses from falling off during inversions. The van was big enough that we could just keep our bags in there, and she kept it locked while we were out on the water. The class itself was great. I practice yoga regularly but had never been on a paddleboard, and Tabitha explained everything really well. Ala Moana is so beautiful and the water is so calm, so even when we fell into the water it didn't really matter. Doing savasana with your arms floating in the water is a truly wonderful experience. My favorite part was that Tabitha took several of photos of all of us during class, and when the class was over we had about ten minutes left, so she asked if anyone wanted to try different poses and she would take photos of us doing them. The photos are available on their Facebook page a few days after the class, so you don't even have to pay extra to get them.

Thank you for the kind review! I'm so happy to hear you had a great experience. I agree, the water at Ala Moana is so beautiful, especially on a calm day. And savasana on the water is tough to beat! I hope you can join us again one day! Aloha!

Have been practicing yoga for several years, but never on a SUP board. Went to Yoga Floats with my Japanese yogi sister-in-law and her totally not yogi husband. Kelsey the instructor sets you up in the water just off the beach. The boards have anchors that keep you in place. You start with simple asana (yoga poses) close to the board and progress toward more difficult balance poses. This is when it gets fun and falling off the board becomes not an if but a when. Yoga experience is NOT necessary as our non yogi member did far better than me and my sister in law. Logistics are super simple. You show up at the designated spot at Ala Moana Beach Park (plenty parking). Kelsey the instructor brings everything in her big van and sets everything up on the beach. You just have to carry the board and anchor to the water and back. Kelsey is a pro and makes everybody feel a part of the group. She runs everything and still manages to take tons of photos. My brother in law speaks very little English and he had a blast. I live here.I will be back !

Thanks so much for the lovely review! I'm happy to hear you had fun! And that's so great that the yogi newbie did the best in the group! Not that it's a competition ;) We would love to have you back again! Aloha!

Worst experience I have ever had with yoga studios. The owner and instructor is irresponsible, unprofessional and rude. Before the class, the studio is unresponsive to my message, and my call went to voice mail. We arrived at the class early, but we were unable to find her location due to lack of information. When we finally find her location, the instructor left us on the beach and ignored us. We left disappointed. Then the owner refused to give us a refund afterwards.

I'm sorry that you didn't have a positive experience with our company. I would like to apologize for our miscommunication with you leading up to class. I was on family vacation with limited access to internet and as a result, missed your message. On the day of the class, when you called for directions, it was already five minutes past the start time and the instructor had already begun class, which is why the call went to voicemail. When the instructor did return your call 5 minutes later, she gave you specific directions to our meeting location and informed you that she was going to take the class into the water and leave boards on the beach for you to join them in the water once you arrived. When you made it to the beach, the instructor waved at you to come join them multiple times, but you chose to remain on the beach. I know that our location can be tricky to find, but we recommend arriving at least 10-15 minutes before class. If guests arrive 20 minutes late for class, the instructor can't leave the class to attend to their needs. Due to the extenuating circumstances, we did give you a full refund, so I hope that has helped you change your opinion of our business. Aloha.
