Tramway cars hold 80 people each and there are no seats. Passengers remain standing throughout the journey up the mountain
Distance is approximately 12,800 feet, with a vertical ascent of 5,873 feet - 15 minutes travel time one way
The tramway is known as a double reversible type of aerial tramway. Each car remains on one pair of track cables moving up and down without turning around. Each car serves as a counter balance to the other, the descending car is helping pull the ascending car up the mountain
Strollers are permitted on this tour
During holiday periods, you may experience long lines. We recommend you travel outside of these peak times to fully enjoy everything the tramway and mountain have to offer.
There is parking in 13 paved lots near Valley Station. There is free shuttle service from parking lots to Valley Station entrance available weekends and holiday periods

A little scared of heights but this was magnificent! Smooth ride and great staff. Our meal at the Peaks Resturant was very good and the view was spectacular!

The tram was wonderful, but I saw no advantage to pre-making reservations thru Viator. You still had to stand on the same line as the people who just showed up. The line was 31/2 hours long the day we were scheduled to go. We decided to skip the wait and went back the next day. Fortunately they honored our payment.

We were lucky that the day we chose was the only perfectly clear and sunny day of the whole new years weekend so our views were exceptional. The ride in both directions was fun and exhilerating. We had lunch in the restaurant and it was delicious. It was funny though ... the restaurant had a sign that said you had to have a reservation to eat there. No where in the literature or on cite, except at the restaurant, was that mentioned. Fortunately they had a few "no-shows"so we were seated.
