Driving into the Palm Springs area on I-10, you will see hundreds of tall windmills...so we decided to take the tour!!! The tour started with an informational video and then the tour guide gave a talk outside before getting into the tour bus. We traveled to different windmill areas...no wind on our day, so we only saw one turning. LOL! Towards the end of the tour, they take you to the Windmill Market for a complimentary Date Shake. Interesting flavor..... All in all it was an interesting and informative tour!

Thank you so much for giving us feedback on your experience. We hope you can come back when there is more wind to power the turbines. We appreciate you for being our guests and we hope to see you sometime in the future with more wind!

We were sent here by the tourism office to buy our tickets directly from the operators. We arrived to find the place locked up solid with not a soul around. Fortunately, we were able to call from the Motel 6 down the road and book our 1pm tour. You are told to arrive 15 to 20 mins ahead of time and would suggest you follow this rule. Lyle was our guide and he was very knowledgeable and friendly. We were shown a few videos inside which gave you an idea of how large the Windmill blades are and how important this source of energy is becoming. After the video, we headed outside where we were walked through a number of exhibits featuring windmill designs. Lyle explained to us the history and the reason why many of these failed. He also explained how the Palm Springs Valley is ideal for a windfarm. I think he said that this is the oldest area in the USA for windfarming. We then boarded the bus for a tour of the caller's windfall. We got to see the farm from a variety of view points and saw lots of Windmill models. Lyle explained why the eifel tower based ones were bound to fail. We also saw some where the concrete base had been completely uprooted. Makes you go back to the video and remember the rebar and concrete base now used. I think if you sit on the right hand side of the bus, you will have a better vantage point. Last but not least, there is a stop for a date milkshake - sounds weird but was actually very good. We really enjoyed the tour but found it overpriced. There was only a 2$ discount for seniors, which was not really worthwhile.

After many visits to Palm Springs, I decided it was time to learn more about the windmills. I was so glad that I did, and that I talked my husband and friends into taking the Windmill Tour with me. It was 2 hours of interesting information, well presented and capped off with a delicious date shake. We met in a comfortable, air-cinditioned room for some background info; walked out to tour an exhibit of windmills and parts; and then got on an air-conditioned bus to see points of interest and the largest windmill in the valley. All of us found the tour interesting and informative.
