Having first read the reviews on TripAdvisor, we decided to take a tour with Surf City tours. We were quite surprised when the tour turned out to be unacceptable and insufficient in many ways. Once the bus pulled up and we saw the stained and ripped seats we should have realized it wasn't going to be a first class tour but we took a leap of faith anyway. Our driver, Frank's headset wasn't working so for the first quarter of the tour we were without audio. It turned out to be a blessing because it became immediately evident after repair that Frank was unpleasant and had a clear edge. His jokes and asides were a put off and seemed to be amusing to him but not to anyone else on the bus. He appeared to suspiciously soften during the last fifteen minutes of the tour. Fellow passengers were considering asking for a refund but I'm not sure if they did or not. It was interesting seeing the sights of LA, etc., if just to check the experience off of our bucket list. If going with Surf City, think twice.

This tour was well worth it! Great view from the open buses(beware:this was covered overhead,some are not and we saw may people with the hot sun beating down on them) Our tour guide Frank was awesome! He was extremely knowledgable about LA.He navigated us through Rodeo Drive,Beverly Hill, Mulholland Drive, Farmer's Market, Chinese Theater,Walk of Fame, plus pointed out many celebrity homes along the way. They picked us up at our hotel and the tour offered plenty of opportunities to hop off and explore on foot. Great way to see the major highlights!
