It pays to read the fine print to appreciate that you can only hop on at the start to register for the service. We discovered that hopping on and off is not the way to go in Philadelphia. The service provided was more of a tour through this beautiful city with a guide spruiking the sights beheld from the top deck. Suggest it is more fun on a Segway tour.

Hello David M, Thank you for choosing Philadelphia Trolley Works and Big Bus. Our Hop On/Hop Off Tour is just what you describe, a 90 minute tour with a live guide that covers 14 miles of our beautiful city. If you chose you can hop on & off, but not everyone does. Some people ride the full tour once, and then go again to hop on & off, after deciding what they want to visit. Riders can hop on at any stop, but must purchase a ticket or redeem at voucher at Stop 1, Stop 6, or Stop 15, where sales agents are posted. Seeing the sites from atop a double decker bus is a unique, fun way to see the city.

I'm a big fan of tour buses in any city. The Big B Tours were not the best I've ever been on but its a great way to see the whole city in 1.5 hrs. We decided to get off and get on at various stops so we really ended up doing the entire trip twice and got to hear different tour guides which is a bonus as they all have their own favourite things to talk about. Also got to see the everything we wanted to see in the city and more. Well worth it. Lots of room on the bus, the cover was great so when it rained lightly it did not disrupt the tour. The bus travels all over the city so you really get to see a lot. Buses come every 25-30 mins so if you choose to get off to see something, you won't miss out or have to wait long. Some of the stops were places where we wouldn't even think of coming to see, so it was great to have the tour guides explain the importance of certain areas and it was great for the bus to actually go to these areas. Although the round trip is 1.5 hrs, plan for at least 3-4 hrs to really enjoy the town and stop at certain stops like liberty bell or Art museum. Highly recommend it.

With plentiful buses and multiple stops, why wouldn’t you utilize the hop on/hop off city tour? You can easily plan your day around your stops. Way cheaper than a taxi and so much more informative. No brainer really.
