The guides were nice and tried hard but not very knowledgeable about Portland. Trip started off poorly when the bike path over the river was closed and we had to detour over a busy not too scenic bridge. Couldn’t someone have checked this out ahead of time? Other bike and walking food tours I’ve been on took us to interesting local sites. On this one we just rode to each of three food spots. We had one extra stop at an old Cemetery. I would’ve enjoyed more history and better scenery. Maybe there is nothing in Portland in the area where we started tour. The food carts were a nice stop. The $12 we were allotted was enough for lunch. I’d say take a walking food tour or a bike tour as better choices than combining into one.

We enjoyed the ride and our guides were nice. We started at the tea house (no one in our family are tea drinkers). We then went to cartopia and got to pick from a variety of wonderful options. Then we went on to fifty licks for ice cream. Good ride, easy to do. We had our sons 11/16 with us. We were hoping for a little more tour info, stuff about the city , the food cart history. I know its hard on bikes but that's really enjoyable when doing tours.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you on this review! And I'm sorry you didn't get as much history of the city as you would have liked. I have a bit of history to tell you now, which I know is a bit late, but hopefully fun! You ate at Cartopia, the first food cart pod in the US and the one that started off the pod trend! Initially, it was just Chicken & Guns and Potato Champion on the property. The city was going to sell the land to a developer, and so the two food trucks were told they had to leave. But, fortunately (or unfortunately), the gas station across the street had leached chemicals in to the ground and the land was not able to be developed! So, the city renewed the lease for the two food trucks for a little bit longer. Trying to make themselves more appealing for renewed leases in the future, they teamed up to build out the fire pit, seating area, and garden-style space you see now! They also invited other trucks to join, including a drink specific one. It definitely worked- Cartopia is beautiful, popular, and (hopefully) going to stay! It then went on to inspire all of the other great seating areas and cool environments for food trucks and carts we see now. If you come back to Portland and want to learn about history and stuff on the city, we do have an Essential Portland tour. This is two hours, but only 5 miles of biking- so you can rest assured that there is a lot of history being shared! :) Again, I'm sorry that the experience wasn't fully what you were hoping.
