If you are in Juneau all day - you can take advantage of our flexible Glacier Shuttle to get back to town. If you arrive in the afternoon expect to get 90 minutes at the park. But don't worry! The whale watching was very nice. Got to see a few whales even 2 breaching. The guides and the bus drivers were very nice and informative. The only negative aspect was that we only had 1 hour to see Mendenhall glacier. We did the 2:30 tour. The problem was that we could have stayed longer but the last bus was scheduled to leave 1 hour after we arrived. Overall it was nice, but if youre going in the afternoon I would not recommend doing a combo tour

We started off our tour on a quick bus ride from the Tramway area to the boat. We were then guided to the boat by are awesome naturalist, Marina, and met our captain, Lance. Marina is very knowledgeable and obviously passionate about what she does. She made the whole boat trip fun and educational. Lance is an excellent captain who knew right where to take us to see the whales. A few of us got to sit up in the Captain's Quarters with him on the ride and he gave us lots of information. On our nearly 2 hour boat trip, we saw 4 different whales and Marina was very helpful on letting us know what to look for and to be ready to get the photo shot of the whale tail. We were able to see this several times but you should note that you will not see anything on the whale except their back and tail. They do not breach out of the water. After leaving the boat, another short bus ride took us to the Mendenhall glacier. We spent several hours there viewing the glacier, touring the visitor center, and walking the several Trails available. It's a beautiful place and the glacier and waterfall are spectacular. It was great to have the option to stay around the glacier longer and take any one of their buses back to town.

Took this tour in May 2019 and was amazed at the value. Clearly, any nature watching tour is wholly dependant upon mother nature but that aside you get a lot for the money with this tour. We spent a couple of hours whale watching viewing hump backs, seals and a bear on the shore line. Trip to Mendenhall was amazing especially viewing Nugget falls at close quarter. On that point, we only got one hour at the glacier. This is definitely long enough if you want to see the glacier / visitor centre etc but you'll need to make a steady pace to see the falls as it's approx. 20min walk each way. My partner and I made the walk but needed to keep an eye on the clock to ensure we didn't miss our bus back. However, don't let this put you off. It's a cracking tour and the best we took during our whole time in Alaska.
