The Amish Farm and House
Sit back, relax and let us take you through the real Amish country backroads. Your driver-guide will drive 25 miles into countryside not easily found on our own. From the window, youā€™ll see Amish homes, schools and farms. Depending on the season you might see Amish working in their fields, children riding on scooters and horse & buggies traveling to and from. Your driver-guide will be narrating as you see the Amish going about their everyday life. Youā€™ll learn about agriculture, farming techniques, weddings, family traditions and how they live in our ā€˜modern worldā€™. Itā€™s not just all on the bus; we make two stops at Amish farms where youā€™ll get to interact with the Amish folks. Youā€™ll have the opportunity to purchase goods made from the very hands who made them! (not on Sundays)

We opted for the Premium ticket which included the 90-min bus tour and guided tour of the farm house, self-guided tour of the farm. The 90 min-bus tour was well worth the time; our driver was very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. She lived in the area and had personal experience with Amish neighbors. The guided tour of the house was not as good; you can do that on your own. We did the bus tour first and learned a lot; the guide of the house tour didn't provide anything new and sometimes contradicted what we'd heard on the bus. The farm is located right next to Target, but once you're inside the farm, you'd never know it. Lancaster is very commercial and touristy; you really need to get out in the countryside to enjoy the beauty. Drive to Strasburg on your own and visit the shops. But take the bus tour so you can enjoy the scenery and learn about the Amish without getting lost on country roads.

The countryside is beautiful and what better way to learn about the locals than by traveling the back roads with our knowledgeable driver guides. As for the house tour, we do our best to separate the information so there is not repetition, but often it is the visitors' questions that direct some of the discussion. There are no real contradictions, but many possible responses to similar questions. Thank you for the feedback.

Last weekend my husband and I decided last minute to ride out to Lancaster County to explore the area. We lined up some things to do and the Amish Tour was first on the list. We toured the Amish Farm and House first then took the 90 minute bus tour and thoroughly enjoyed both. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant especially our tour bus driver, Marge. She had full knowledge of the area and people since she has lived there for many years, and was happy to answer all our questions and share her stories! There are many things to see and do in Lancaster so definitely worth the trip!
