Overview

Desert Highlights is Moab's original canyoneering guide service. This full day canyoneering tour visits a route that Desert Highlights' founder created as a technical guided canyoneering route in the late 1990's. Here, we explore an area that most people would not visit on their own. With the use of ropes and other technical gear, a competent guide and a sense of adventure, we are able to explore areas that are otherwise inaccessible. The Moab desert is our home and we are passionate about sharing it with others. During your guided tour, you will not only safely descend a beautiful, water-carved canyon, but you will learn about the flora and fauna, geology and history of the area that we are so lucky to call our backyard.

AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! Book this tour! We had a fabulous day with Jake. We are in our mid 50’s and brought our 22 year old twins with us. They loved it too. Climbed, scrambled, rappelled, so much fun! Felt safe the entire time. Jake took really great care of us. We also did the Pedal/Paddle/Pedal with Desert Highlights- Such a unique experience - great time! Really like that Desert Highlights caters to small private tours. Fabulous experience.

I went on the canyoneering day trip with my family (led by Jake) and it was FANTASTIC. I was a little nervous at first but he was very encouraging and helpful throughout the whole experience. Had a lot of fun scampering up the rocks and the views were amazing. If you have the time absolutely do this!

Three of did the Pool Arch Canyon canyoneering tour on April 22, 2021. The trip was outstanding. The scenery is wonderful. We did not see anyone else the entire day until we were almost back to the car. The rappels were great, the first and third one are both over 100 feet and are really fun. Learning some other canyoneering skills (chimneying, down climbing) was also great. Our guide, Kai, did a great job in making us feel safe and helping us navigate through some of the tricky sections in the canyon. Would definitely do another tour with this group.
