Private Buckskin Gulch Tour

Overview

There are as many metaphors to describe what locals call 'down in the Buckskin' as there are people who have been there. I choose the word 'in' because you are literally inside the walls of the world's longest slot canyon.

According to the Bureau of Land Management ('BLM') website, Buckskin Gulch is 16 miles long (around 26 km) from the Buckskin Trailhead to the Paria Canyon and over 500 feet (around 150m) deep at its confluence with the Paria River. There are places in the Buckskin where you are able to touch both canyon walls at the same time.

Buckskin Gulch is a photographer's and hiker's Mecca. Every corner you turn is changing continuously; the cliffs are water-and-wind-sculpted patterns of colors, light and shadows. You may also marvel and puzzle at the meanings of the rock writings (petroglyphs) from the early Archaic period (some are as old as 9,000 years).

It was voted one the top 10 hikes in the world by National Geographic Adventure Magazine a few years back.

One of the best and unique tour I ever did! Our guides Yermo and Hunter were absolutely professional and very knowledgeable to describe any particular details and history during the hikes in the desert and canyon. In addition they always made sure you are good and safe during the trail. All the experience was more than five stars and absolutely a magic place to see once in your life!!!! Great job guys!!!

Amazing Trip. Amazing guides. From the moment we met we felt we were in great hands. We learned so many things about local culture and had a fabulous experience. I definitely would recommend them and I will for sure be back to explore more of the canyons...with them of course! Ask Yermo to show you ancient native arrow tips and pottery...as well as hidden petroglyphs. What a great day.

Spectacular experience, the trip you will remember for a lifetime! There are no words to describe how much we enjoyed the time we spent with Yermo and Hunter. We choose the Middle Route to the Buckskin Gulch, going down and up to the canyon both guides make us feel safe and well protected the entire time. The beauty of the canyon is overwhelming, something everyone should put on their bucket list. Yermo made sure to point out wildlife and natural beauty throughout the whole trip, his knowledge, wisdom, care of the environment, and connection with nature are really impressive, you could listen to him for hours. Yermo and Hunter were extremely professional, physically prepared and all the time looking after you and ready to help you. I am so thankful I got this opportunity and can't wait to go back to explore more.
