Private Drunk History Tour

Overview
There are a multitude of walking and ghost tours to choose from in San Antonio. Most of which are led by costumed guides, reciting scripts while herding 30 people like so many cattle through ubiquitous franchises.

I offer an alternative. A boutique, historical bar tour.

My name is Emzy. I've been sharing my hometown with guests for over twenty years and I invite you to join me for an evening of cocktails and conversation all things history in two of the most storied bars in Texas.

After a few minutes in Alamo Plaza we will belly up to the same bar where Teddy Roosevelt recruited many of the famed Rough Riders in 1898, drinks in hand we then explore the oldest hotel in the Texas followed with a second round at another nearby historic bar chosen on your taste.

Warm welcomes, prompt service, heavy pours, exclusive access, unparalleled research and personalized service await you on the ultimate way to truly discover San Antonio: past and present.

We did the Straight Up tour and it and was absolutely fabulous. Emzy is a great host and guide, thoroughly answering any question you might have. Everywhere he takes you and everything he tells you about he can backup with research, photos, blueprints, newspaper articles etc. We learned so many things about the history of the Alamo and the Menger Hotel (among others) that you wouldnā€™t hear on another tour or read about on a plaque. The tour was very interactive and by the end of the night we felt well informed about the city, had had lots of laughs, and had made some new friends!!

This tour was amazing! Learned much that we didn't even imagine we would have ever known. The sights we saw were absolutely amazing. He digs for information and loves it. In turn we get to obtain so much knowledge about things in San Antonio. We will plan on telling friends, and also doing this again. Never know, maybe learn even more! The company was awesome too. Not to mention the bars we went into!!!!

I can't say enough good things about our tour with Emzy! My husband and I travel to San Antonio nearly every year, this was the first time we took a history tour while in town and we're so happy we picked this tour. Emzy greeted us in front of the Alamo as promised, as luck would have it we were the only two signed up for the tour that evening which meant we were treated to a private tour. Emzy is extremely knowledgeable about San Antonio, not only the history but also local happenings and hot spots. Our tour started with a bit of history on the Alamo then off to the Menger Bar where we grabbed a drink and embarked on a very interesting tour of the hotel. Emzy was prepared with visual aides and was happy to tell me some ghost stories once he learned I enjoyed those. Emzy informed us that the bar he normally takes guest to next would be busy because of an event but was happy to take us to another of his favorite spots. We obliged and are so happy we did the bar we ended up at was one of the best I've ever been to. We were able to grab a few drinks while learning more about the local history, and about Emzy's time working on the river. He is a great guide and an overall good person. We saw him at the bar a few nights later and he came by to say hello to us. We plan to take another of his tours while we're in San Antonio again next year!
